There's a list of sound effect names over at Sonic Retro. See https://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=16641

you did good on your sounds Mr Lange hi.
It is lovely to use your sound effects but.
There's more to my game project that needs different kind of sound effects.
I really am building the game it's been almost 2 years.
that picture should tell you.
there's a disturbance on GR.
But yes it's taking a long time to finish.
Because i'm one person building it.
But hey.
See you later. And great work.^_^/!?

Please don't try to turn the site into a Sonic Retro site.

Sonic 3 actually has a LOT of very specific sounds that are only used in one case, as well as a lot of just generally unused sounds. I'd even say less than half the sounds are used in multiple zones.

That's good, but it means that the end user also has search through 170 different sounds, listening to each one until they find the one they want.
But I can't find any alternative, I wouldn't be surprised if several, if not most, sounds are used throughout the game, so appending a location tag or something is out.
It's not that big of a deal though, the sound files are very short, so you can just simply listen to them all and rename the ones you want to use, or might use in the future.

The sound effect names don't need to be "fixed". I named them after their hex values in the sound test. I did it this way because it was direct and non-conflicting. I didn't want to impose my own ideas for names, and a lot of the sounds are difficult to identify. The end user is free to rename them as they like.

These are hard to find. Please fix sound effect names.
