Some trivia:

The sound effects were originally sequenced audio (midi) that pulled from a small compressed library of sounds, typically stored at higher pitches to make better use of the N64 storage and played back lower-pitched with some other sound effects to add complexity and layers. This was also how the Doom 64 EX port handled sound effects.

However, the 2020 remake just stores the compressed sound effects as pre-mixed wav files instead, which would've made ripping this a whole lot easier.

The music, however, (which is a combination of traditional midi sequencing and holding single notes to play back full larger sound samples) hasn't been compressed down in the remake and still uses midi playback combined with the sample library.
