@TheWGD Correct. They were introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3. The thwomp sound used in the .zip file is actually the explosion/firework sound.

Thwomps weren't even in this game

The Thwomp sound was misnamed. It's really just an explosion/landing sound (fireworks, etc)

Why are these sounds so quiet?

For all of you who are wondering what the "Thwomp" sound is doing here, my theory is that it's from Super Mario Maker in the Super Mario Bros. Game Style, but I readily admit that I could be wrong. Also g'day everyone, all the way from Australia, especially @Random Talking Bush! I love your profile pic mate! :)

I dont remember a thwomp being in smb1, but ok.
